Michael - Baptism

Michael is currently serving in Kajjansi. This past week Elder Winters and Cobabe had a baptism.

Here is a little info about Kajjansi . . .

The township is situated on the tarmacked, all-weather Kampala - Entebbe Highway. Kajjansi is located approximately 16 kilometres (9.9 mi), by road, south of Kampala, Uganda's capital and largest city.[1] This location is approximately 25 kilometres (16 mi), by road, north of Entebbe International Airport, Uganda's largest civilian and military airport. In 2006 the  population was about 7,700.

David - Mitchell's Plain

David is currently serving in Mitchell's Plain. He is really loving his experience so far and reports he is missing home, but he is doing well and learning a lot.
Here is just a little info about the area he is serving in . . .
Mitchells Plain is a largely coloured township about 32 km from the city of Cape Town. It is one of South Africa's largest townships. It is located on the Cape Flats on the False Bay coast between Muizenberg and Khayelitsha. Conceived of as a "model township" by the apartheid government, it was built during the 1970s to provide housing for coloured victims of forced removal due to the implementation of the Group Areas Act. Though Mitchells Plain is no longer officially a "coloured township," the overwhelming majority of its residents are still Coloured.

At an estimated population of 290,000 people, it comprises a number of sub-sections which reflect the diverse class backgrounds of the population. Once a major stronghold of the United Democratic Front, the broad-based ANC-sponsored anti-apartheid body, it is now known more for gangsterism and tik (methamphatemine) addiction among the youth. Although it has all these negative affects it also has one of Cape Towns biggest shopping centres, called the Liberty Promenade.

Mattress races in the MTC

Michael and David departed the MTC on June 18th. They were excited to head off to Cape Town and Kampala but, sad to say "goodbye" to each other.  Looks like they had a good time before they went their separate ways!
